Curtains - Fire Party

Mais recente e talvez até melhor revelação do psychobilly americano dos últimos anos. O Curtains surgiu no ano passado (2007) justamente com seu álbum Fire Party. De Chicago, Illinois, Alex (guitarra e vocal), Will (bateria) e Mickey (baixo) fazem um som com sua base no psychobilly clássico, só que com uma peculiariedade muito original: eles dão um toque explícito de new wave e suas melancolias às suas músicas, o que as fazem soar como uma fusão de Torment (se Simon Brand reencarnou em alguém, foi no vocalista do Curtains) com The Cure. Indico como faixas de referência Hornfly e Audio Hallucinations.

Adam and the Ants - Strip

Como de praxe, muitas bandas de punk77 puxaram posteriormente seu som para a new wave, com o Adam and the Ants não foi diferente, apos o inicio de carreira pendendo para o punk setentista, com o amadurecimento da banda, a new wave começou a se mostrar cada vez mais presente, Strip, de 1983, epoca em que a new wave mostrava até uma certa soberania e dominio, não se mostra diferente, o album, pra mim, é um verdadeiro tesouro da new wave, mostrando toda essa versatilidade que já era um marco tanto musicalmente quanto visualmente na banda. Adam Ant, este que ja apanhou de Sid Vicious, genial como de costume.

X-Ray Spex - Germfree Adolescents

Banda clássica formada em 1976 na Inglaterra por Poly Styrene, Jak Airport, Paul Dean, Paul Hurding, com um diferencial do saxophone com Lora Logic. Uma das coisas mais marcantes da banda, se não for a mais marcante, é a voz estridente de Poly Styrene, além do diferencial do saxophone que até hoje é atípico. Esse disco foi lançado em 1978 e é considerado o clássico da banda.

The Wanderers - Only Lovers Left Alive

Imagine com Stiv Bators, ex-vocalista dos Dead Boys, tocando com o apoio de uma das melhores bandas inglesas. O Wanderers foi formado em 1980 por Stiv Bators com os ex-membros do Sham 69. A banda durou pouco, lançando somente um disco, quando Stiv Bators fundou o Lords Of The New Church com Brian James (ex-Damned), Dave Tregunna (ex-Sham 69) e Nick Turner. Esse é um álbum muito interessante, com particularidade de sempre da voz de Stiv Bators, com uma das melhores bandas inglesas de todos os tempos tocando, porém, com muito mais influência da New Wave. Vale a pena pela qualidade e pela história do álbum, que ficou esquecido durante anos, se tornando quase uma peça de colecionador.

New Order - Substance

Formado das cinzas do Joy Division apos o suicidio de Ian Curtis, o New Order contava com tres ex integrantes da banda. Pra quem não conhece, o som do New Order é bem puxado pro SynthPop/New Wave, totalmente diferente do trabalho que era feito no Joy Division, esse album, Substance, foi lançado em 1987 e é uma compilação da carreira da banda que começou em 1980. O New Order esteve recentemente no Brasil, e mostraram que estão melhores do que nunca.

Our Daughters Wedding - Moving Windows

Our Daughter's Wedding começaram em 1977 em san francisco,CA, influenciados por toda a onda punk e como uma banda normal, com baixo, guitarras e baterias, mas, em 1978 a banda teve seu fim, um ano mais tarde, ja em new york, eles decidiram começar do zero de novo, e como uma banda, rotulada de synthpunk, "We started playing at the Hurrah! club as supporting act to James Chance and Mi-Sex. At that time people did not like us and shouted 'where the fuck are the drums, why don't you use any guitars' and that kind of crap. But after a few years it became a fad, so it came as a surprise to us that it all of a sudden was okay to use synths". O lineup da banda conta com, Layne Rico - Synthesizers, Keith Silva - Vocals/synthesizers e Scott Simon - Saxophone/synthesizers, assim, o Our Daughter's Wedding começou a mudar o som e ter uma sonoridade mais voltada para a new wave e sendo um precursor do synthpop, a banda não durou muito, teve seu fim no final de 1983, inicio de 1984. Esse album é de 1982 e é o unico da banda, que contava antes disso apenas com alguns 7".

Revillos - Rev Up

Os Rezillos, foram um fenomeno devastador dentro do punk durante sua primeira existência, que durou cerca de 19 meses, um album e toda uma geração influenciada.
Apos esse término repentino da banda, Fay Fife e Eugene Reynolds, queriam continuar com a banda, e perante a contratos, direitos dos integrantes/gravadoras, o nome se mudou para Revillos, a sonoridade também mudou, o Revillos, assumiu totalmente o lado new wave que ja dava caras no Rezillos, alem de uma altissima influência do Powerpop, tudo isso, regado a loucura e insanidade desses Deuses que dispensam qualquer tipo de apresentações.
Este album, é o primeiro da banda, que teve uma longa carreira diferentemente do Rezillos, lançando mais de 10 albuns, sessões para a BBC, alem de videos e singles, é claro.
