V.A. - FAC 2 - A Factory Sample

Segundo lançamento da Factory Records (primeiro lançamento musical), A Factory Samples, foi lançado em dezembro de 1978, sendo um ep duplo e contando com 4 bandas. A Factory Records ficou famosa por sua atmosfera cinzenta, sendo sinonimo de melancolia. Nessa compilação, a Factory traz Joy Division (Aside: Tears in their Eyes), The Durutti Column (Beside: Occasional Labour in Culture), John Dowie (Seaside: A Piece of the Cake; 3 Songs That Spell FAG) e Cabaret Voltaire (Decide: Lips of Sulphur).
Como dito antes, esse foi o primeiro lançamento em formato musical da Factory Records, e demonstrava qual o trabalho seria desenvolvido por essa gravadora e por Tony Wilson durante os anos.

Compilação lançada por algum selo japonês no ano de 2004 que conta com 4 bandas de 3 países: The Oppressed, do País de Gales; United Front, da Escócia; e United We Stand e Oi! Valcans, do Japão.
A grande surpresa desse disco, pelo menos para mim, é o United We Stand. A banda faz um excelente Oi! com muitos sing-alongs, bem na linha de algumas bandas européias atuais. Logo logo irei postar o disco deles.

V/A. - Chaos In Europe

Mais uma das maravilhosas compilações francesas Chaos. Esse álbum, contudo, não se limita apenas as fronteiras da terra de Napoleão. Ele traz uma pequena amostra da cena street punk/Oi! da Europa continental no início dos anos de 1980. A coletânea possui bandas suecas (Slam e Asta Kask), alemãs (F.F.F. e Neurotic Arseholes), espanholas (T.N.T. e Decibelios), italiana (Nabat), holandesa (NV Le Anderen) e, obviamente, francesas (Komintern Sect, Reich Orgasm, Al Kapott, Kambrones, Drei Oklok, Brutal Combat e Les Enfants Sauvages).
Disco raro e de excelente qualidade (o vinil desse disco vale mais de US$ 100). Portanto, aproveitem.
Obs: desculpem pela capa, foi a melhor imagem do disco que eu consegui.

V/A - US of Oi!

Coletânea lançada no ano de 1993 e ainda é considerada a melhor compilação de bandas de Street Punk/Oi! dos Estados Unidos. O álbum contém bandas bem conhecidas, como Warzone e Anti Heros, e várias bandas bastante desconhecidas. Algumas músicas desse disco têm forte teor patriota (mas todos nós sabemos que muitos americanos possuem um forte sentimento patriota).
Antes que falem alguma coisa, a música “Skinheads 88” do Youth Defense League não faz propaganda nazista. Na verdade, o 88 do nome se refere ao ano em que ela foi gravada, e a letra não faz apologia. Além disso, os membros do YDL são amigos dos membros do Agnostic Front, banda que possui uma forte postura anti-racista.
P.s.: The Youth Defense League song “Skinheads 88” isn’t a nazi propaganda song. The 88 in the song name stands for the year that it was recorded. YDL isn’t a WP band.

VA - RIOTOUS ASSEMBLY

Compilado editado originalmente por Riot City Records, de Londres, en 1982. Combina bandas bastante establecidas del sello en ese momento con otras que nunca habían grabado nada y estaban apenas empezando en ese entonces. El sello Step 1 reeditó esta versión que les traigo hoy. Hay temas impresionantes de bandas que no grabaron mucho como Your War, uno de mis favoritos, del grupo Court Martial que más allá de su participación en algunas recopilaciones no ofrece mucho más material disponible. Un caso distinto es el de los clásicos Vice Squad que ya tenían un reconocimiento y una popularidad considerables desde su debut con el sencillo Last Rockers del 80, en esta ocasión participan con dos temas entre los que sobresale Coward, con un sonido contundente, mucho mejor que otras grabaciones que hicieron y tal vez una de las mejores canciones de este grupo. Otro par de recomendados son las bandas Undead con la canción Sanctuary y Resistance '77 con Bricks In Brixton.

Drunkcomp #3 - To Jamaica With Love - Rock Goes Reggae

Ao contrário do que muitos pensam, o Punk Rock foi muito influenciado pelo Reggae e pela música Jamaicana em geral. Um dos exemplos disso é o DJ Don Letts, que tocava no Roxy Club em Londres entre uma banda e outra, e como quase não haviam discos de Punk em 1976 e no começo de 1977, era tocado Reggae, Dub e um pouco de Ska. Pode-se dizer que o Reggae foi a trilha sonora do início do Punk na Inglaterra. Porém, com essa coletânea, pode-se perceber que não foi só na Inglaterra e nem só no Punk que houve grande influencia da música Jamaicana. Bandas como The Oppressed e Klasse Kriminale, com membros ligados às raízes do Skinhead, levam a música Jamaicana como influência, seja fazendo versões de músicas já consagradas, seja tocando sons próprios influenciados. Já Dag Vag, uma banda conhecida na Suécia, mesclava o Reggae com o Punk, enquanto outras bandas davam início a cena Punk. O Clash já tinha feito o cover de Police & Thieves de Jr. Murvin em seu primeiro disco, porém, fizeram uma viagem à Jamaica, que acabou saindo um pouco do esperado, mas gravaram com o lendário Lee Perry, o que rendeu a música Complete Control e uma versão de Pressure Drop, de Toots & The Maytals. Mas esse não foi o único contato que o Clash teve diretamente com o Reggae, já que gravaram ainda com Mikey Dread, que resultou em diversas músicas que estão nos álbuns Sandinista e Super Black Market Clash. Outro cover que o Clash fez foi da música Armagideon Time de Willi Williams. Era evidente a influência, pode-se dizer até mesmo recíproca, com Bob Marley gravando Punky Reggae Party, citando diversas bandas de Punk Rock e o Clash gravando White Man In Hammersmith-Palais, citando alguns artistas de Reggae. O Bad Brains por sua vez, uma banda de Hardcore, uma das mais influentes do comeco dos anos 80, com apresentacoes insanas de seus integrantes, encontrou a filosofia Rastafari e passou a aplicar o Reggae cada vez mais em seus sons, em todos os albuns eles tem musicas de Reggae, e algumas delas misturando o Dub e o Roots com o Hardcore. Como ja foi dito, a cena Britanica foi muito influenciada pelo Reggae e pela Jamaica, logo, nao seria dificil ver bandas como The Members ou Stiff Little Fingers, que sao bandas classicas, fazendo versoes ou mesmo musicas proprias com influencias explicitas do Reggae, sem contar The Slits, uma banda formada por mulheres que era produzida por Don Letts, com clara influencia em todos os seus sons. Essa coletânea tem o intuito de mostrar o quão grande foi e é a influência da música Jamaicana dentro do Punk, não só com versões de músicas ja consagradas mas também na própria sonoridade das bandas. Claro, muitas bandas e músicas ficaram de fora, mas com isso já é possível visualizar o que acontecia em 1976-1980 e além.

The Entire History of Punk é um Box Set com 20 volumes lançado em 2001 pela Dressed to Kill Records (pretendo postar os 20 albuns, e aqui neste post, estão os 10 primeiros discos, num post matador), o disco leva em conta não apenas o punk rock, mas boa parte do que tem sua influencia, alem das bandas classicas da decada de 70 como Damned, Johnny Thunders, Ruts, 999, Alternative TV, Chelsea, conta também com bandas de Mod Revival e Psychobilly em alguns de seus volumes (a partir do 11, aparecendo com muita força no 20). A versatilidade é o que realmente torna a coletanea muito boa, alem do punk77, estão presentes entre outras coisas, bandas de Oi! music, Street Punk, Punk80's, Hardcore Punk, etc. Além de estar recheado de classicos, traz bandas que tiveram uma menor expressão, mas nem por isso são piores, pelo contrario, traz bandas fantasticas pouco conhecidas pelo publico, que não cabem aqui, só baixando e ouvindo mesmo. Divirtam-se, aqui tem material suficiente pra isso.

Clásico del Street Punk francés. Las mejores bandas de los 80 en un par de recopilaciones que hicieron historia. Excelentes temas de Komintern Sect, Trots Kids, Reich Orgasm, Camera Silens. V.A. - The Entire History of Punk [Box Set] (Part 1)

The Entire History of Punk é um Box Set com 20 volumes lançado em 2001 pela Dressed to Kill Records (pretendo postar os 20 albuns, e aqui neste post, estão os 10 primeiros discos, num post matador), o disco leva em conta não apenas o punk rock, mas boa parte do que tem sua influencia, alem das bandas classicas da decada de 70 como Damned, Johnny Thunders, Ruts, 999, Alternative TV, Chelsea, conta também com bandas de Mod Revival e Psychobilly em alguns de seus volumes (a partir do 11, aparecendo com muita força no 20). A versatilidade é o que realmente torna a coletanea muito boa, alem do punk77, estão presentes entre outras coisas, bandas de Oi! music, Street Punk, Punk80's, Hardcore Punk, etc. Além de estar recheado de classicos, traz bandas que tiveram uma menor expressão, mas nem por isso são piores, pelo contrario, traz bandas fantasticas pouco conhecidas pelo publico, que não cabem aqui, só baixando e ouvindo mesmo. Divvirtam-se, aqui tem material suficiente pra isso.
